Lugano to Como — private day trip by taxi
Spend an unhurried day on Lake Como with a private car and driver. The run from Lugano to Como is only about 30 kilometres, roughly 40 minutes across the Swiss–Italian border, so you reach the lakeshore quickly. The day is yours, the price one fixed fare agreed before you set off.
Your itinerary
Como rewards a slow day. Most people start in the historic old town, a maze of cobbled lanes opening onto the elegant lakefront promenade, with the marble Duomo — Como's cathedral — rising a few steps from the water.
From the lakeside you can ride the funicular up to the village of Brunate for a sweeping panorama over the lake and, on a clear day, the Alps; back down, Villa Olmo and its gardens make a graceful stop. Many guests add a boat trip out onto Lake Como toward Bellagio and the lakeside villas before a late lunch by the shore.
Because your driver waits and brings you home, none of it is rushed: linger over coffee, change the plan on a whim, and we simply adapt the day around you.
Your journey
The drive is short and easy: about 30 kilometres and around 40 minutes in normal traffic. We leave Lugano on the A2 motorway, drop down toward the border at Chiasso and cross into Italy, then carry on the last few kilometres to Como at the southern tip of the lake. The crossing is routine and already part of the fixed fare we agree in advance — nothing to settle at the frontier. As the road descends you catch the first glimpses of the water and the mountains closing in around it, and within the hour you step out by the lake.
Vehicle & capacity
Your car for the day is a Mercedes-Benz V-Class, with easy room for up to six — a family or small group in one car — and space for the bags, cameras and coats a relaxed day by the lake invites. We fit child seats on request. If you need step-free or assisted access, tell us when you book and we'll arrange it.
