Your journey from Lugano to Malpensa Airport

The drive is about 75 kilometres and takes around 1 hour 10 minutes in normal conditions. We leave Lugano on the A2 motorway, cross into Italy at Chiasso–Brogeda and continue on the A9 past Como toward the airport. The Swiss–Italian border is part of the everyday journey: we handle the crossing routinely, and the full fixed fare we agree in advance already includes it, so there is nothing extra to settle at the frontier.

Taxi or train? The TILO S50 runs direct from Lugano to Malpensa about once an hour and takes about 1 h 40 to Terminal 2. It is the cheaper choice if you travel light and your flight fits the timetable. A private transfer earns its place door to terminal: about 1 hour 10 minutes, no platforms with heavy cases, room for up to six, and a car at 4 a.m. or after the last train has gone.

For arrivals at Malpensa we meet you in the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 with a name sign, and help with your luggage to the car.
